Mobile/ Workshop HGV Technician

Our client, a heavy machinery plant construction and site management company , is seeking for Mobile/ Workshop HGV Technician to join their team
The ideal candidate will be responsible for carrying out routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on our fleet of HGVs at roadside locations, customer sites, or depot locations. This is a field-based role that requires strong mechanical skills, a proactive attitude, and a customer-focused approach.
Role: Mobile/ Workshop HGV Technician
Hours: Mon to Fri 6am to 6pm, every other Saturday 7am - 3pm
Location: Stanford Le Hope
Key Responsibilities:
* Perform scheduled servicing and maintenance on HGVs, trailers, and ancillary equipment.
* Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults.
* Attend breakdowns and provide roadside assistance when required.
* Conduct vehicle inspections to DVSA standards and complete relevant documentation.
* Ensure all repairs and services are completed in line with company and manufacturer guidelines.
* Accurately record work completed using mobile devices or job sheets.
* Maintain a clean and organised mobile workshop (company van).
* Liaise with fleet and transport managers to schedule maintenance and reduce vehicle downtime.
* Comply with all health and safety regulations and company procedures.
Requirements:
* Qualified HGV Technician (City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
* Previous experience in a similar HGV maintenance or breakdown technician role.
* Full UK Driving Licence (HGV Class 1 or 2 preferred but not essential).
* Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
* Flexibility to work occasional weekends, overtime, or on-call rota.
