HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / HGV Fitter (Reading)
Location: Reading
Salary: Starting from £37,500 with OTE up to £52,800 depending on shift and overtime
Shifts: Various shifts available
Hours: 40 per week
Job Type: Full-time, permanent
Shift Options
Day shift: 08:00 - 16:30, salary starting from £37,500 with OTE £45,(Apply online only)+
Late shift: 16:00 - 00:00, salary starting from £37,500 plus shift allowance, OTE £52,800+ Uncapped overtime available at time and a half
The Role
We are looking for experienced HGV Technicians / HGV Mechanics / HGV Fitters to join a busy workshop in Reading. You will carry out servicing, inspections, diagnostics and repairs on HGVs to keep vehicles safe, compliant and on the road. With overtime paid at time and a half and additional shift allowances, this is a great opportunity to boost your earnings while building your career.
Key Responsibilities of an HGV Technician
Carrying out servicing and preventative maintenance on HGVs
Performing major and minor mechanical and electrical repairs
Diagnosing faults and completing repair plans
Maintaining accurate records and completing all required paperwork
Carrying out wheel alignment and tyre fitting
Ensuring a clean, safe and efficient workshop environment
Skills and Qualifications for an HGV Technician
Essential
Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (NVQ, City & Guilds or IMI)
Proven experience as an HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / HGV Fitter
Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
Ability to identify worn and faulty components in line with DVSA standards
Full UK driving licence
Desirable
Experience working with diagnostics and advanced repair systems
Ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines
Flexible approach with strong attention to detail
