Job Description
HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic
Location: Selby
Salary: £46,804 per year
Shift: Monday – Friday, 7:00am – 5:00pm / 8:00am – 6:00pm (alternating shifts) – 48 hrs
Plus 1 in 2 Saturday mornings, 8:00am – 12:00pm
We’re looking for an experienced HGV Technician to join the team based in Selby. This is a 1-bay, very long workshop with a pit, brake tester, pit jacks and a wide range of workshop equipment. The site has recently added a fully fitted mobile workshop van to support repairs at nearby satellite sites — shared between all staff depending on workload.
You’ll be joining a small, welcoming team that includes two mechanics and a workshop supervisor, working across a mainly Volvo fleet with a good mix of both hgvs and trailers. The work is varied and includes servicing, MOT prep, running repairs, welding, fabrication, and electrical work.

Key Responsibilities
* Carry out servicing, inspections, MOT preparation, and general repairs on HGVs and trailers
* Perform welding, fabrication, and refurbishment work to a high standard
* Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults efficiently
* Complete all job cards, service sheets, and compliance documentation on tablets through the fleet management system
* Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean, safe working environment
What We’re Looking For
* Proven experience as an HGV Technician, HGV Fitter, or similar role
* Strong technical knowledge of HGVs and trailers, including diagnostics, repairs, and MOT preparation
* Welding and basic fabrication experience
* A full UK driving licence
