Location: Manchester and Surrounding Areas
Salary: £24.00 per hour
Job Type: Ad-Hoc / Ongoing / Contract / Part Time

About the Role

Prime Placers is recruiting experienced HGV Class 1 (C+E) Drivers for ongoing ad-hoc work across Manchester and the surrounding areas.

The work is predominantly night shifts, with most drivers completing 3–4 shifts per week. However, depending on customer demand, there are opportunities to work 5–6 shifts per week.

We currently have five long-term contract opportunities available and are looking to build a team of dependable drivers who are committed, flexible and take pride in their work. This role involves regular coupling and uncoupling of trailers, making it ideal for drivers who are confident with trailer swaps and yard movements.

Key Responsibilities

  * Operate HGV Class 1 (C+E) vehicles for local and nationwide deliveries.

  * Carry out coupling and uncoupling of trailers safely and efficiently.

  * Demonstrate confidence and experience using the fifth wheel mechanism.

  * Complete daily vehicle checks and report any defects promptly.

  * Ensure compliance with Driver Hours, Working Time Directive (WTD) and Tachograph regulations.

  * Complete delivery paperwork and maintain accurate records.

  * Represent Prime Placers and our clients professionally at all times.

Requirements

  * Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence.

  * Minimum of 1 year's Class 1 driving experience.

  * Valid Driver CPC qualification.

  * Valid Digital Tachograph Card.

  * Previous experience coupling and uncoupling trailers is essential.

  * Good understanding of Driver Hours and Working Time Directive regulations.

  * Reliable, hard-working and flexible attitude.

  * Excellent timekeeping and a strong commitment to safety.

  * Drivers who are happy to muck in, be flexible and work as part of a team are encouraged to apply.

What We Offer

  * £24.00 per hour.
