Early Years High Needs ASD Teaching Assistant – Primary Autism Unit, Lambeth 🌟
Location: Lambeth, London
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-time, Term-time only
Salary: £104 per day
The Role We are working in partnership with a specialist primary autism unit in Lambeth, supporting children in Early Years (Reception/Nursery) with high needs ASD. We are seeking a dedicated Early Years Teaching Assistant to work closely with the class teacher and SENCo, providing tailored support to children with complex social, communication, and learning needs.
As an Early Years High Needs ASD TA, you will:
Support children 1:1 and in small groups, helping them access the curriculum and develop key skills.
Implement strategies to support communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation.
Assist with the delivery of individualised learning plans (ILPs) and targeted interventions.
Encourage independence, positive behaviour, and engagement with learning.
Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and the wider team to ensure holistic support.
Maintain detailed observations and records to track progress and inform planning.About the School / Unit

The successful candidate will:
Have previous experience supporting children with ASD, ideally in Early Years or primary settings.
Be knowledgeable about autism and strategies to support social, emotional, and communication development.
Be patient, flexible, and able to build strong relationships with children and families.
Have excellent communication and teamwork skills.
