Your future role
Take on a new challenge and help shape the future of train operations at Alstom. You’ll report to the Production Manager and play a vital role in providing technical expertise and support to the depot teams in delivering Alstom’s contractual obligations for the maintenance and service of Metro rolling stock. Collaborating closely with internal teams, you’ll ensure high standards in operational efficiency, reliability, and safety while addressing any engineering challenges that may arise. You will enhance fleet performance by diagnosing faults and conducting repairs on the 95TS fleet, contributing to the overall improvement of fleet reliability.
We’ll look to you for the following:
Provide technical support to depot teams by delivering fault-finding expertise and assistance with train repair activities.
Work with AC and DC motors, inverters, converters, compressors, and air systems.
Carry out diagnostics and repairs on electronic components, ensuring high standards of performance and safety.
Maintain extensive knowledge of three-phase, single-phase, and DC power systems and control systems.
Position fault data in the shared drive facility to ensure easy access for the team.
Investigate and resolve intermittent faults on vehicles while in the depot or in service.
Conduct testing and re-commissioning activities in accordance with pre-written test procedures.
Assist with component changeouts and failure reporting, contributing to central systems support and reliability growth.
Support skills development within depots and train care points to enhance team capabilities.
Provide on-train fault diagnosis and rectification for units in service, ensuring minimal disruption.
Liaise with systems support engineers and specialist engineers to gather technical information for problem resolution.
Ensure all activities comply with the Train Care Centre quality and safety procedures.
Collaborate with the Warranty Engineer to support the execution of responsibilities.
Drive the company vehicle to attend the Northern Lines outstations when necessary.

A good understanding of mechanical, electrical, and electronic engineering, particularly relevant to modern Electric Multiple Units.
Practical experience within a related field, ideally within the transport environment, employing best practice engineering methodologies.
Qualifications such as HNC/HND in Electrical or Electronics or an equivalent level qualification.
A self-directed, results-focused individual who can work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in office packages, email, and intranet systems.
Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to health and safety standards.
A strong focus on customer needs and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
