Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) - Secondary School
Location: Bury, Greater Manchester
Contract Type: Full-Time, Fixed-Term (September 2025 - July 2026)
Salary: Competitive - Dependent on Experience
Start Date: September 2025
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a welcoming secondary school in the Bury area. This full-time position will run from September 2025 until the end of the 2025/2026 academic year, with a strong possibility of leading to a school-based contract.
Key Responsibilities:
Support teaching and learning across Key Stages 3 and 4
Deliver pre-prepared lessons to whole classes in the absence of a teacher
Provide targeted intervention and small-group support
Assist with planning and assessment under teacher guidance
Support behaviour management and classroom routines
Contribute to a positive and inclusive learning environment
Essential Requirements:
HLTA status or equivalent qualification/experience
Proven experience working in UK secondary schools
Confident leading classes and supporting pupils of varying abilities
Excellent communication, organisation, and classroom management skills
Ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff and independently when required
Full-time availability from September 2025
Desirable:
Experience supporting pupils with SEND or EAL
Willingness to take on additional responsibilities where appropriate
