Job Description

Our client, a prestigious organisation within the public sector, is currently seeking a Highway Design Engineer to join their team on a contract basis. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse range of highway improvement schemes, including active travel projects, at various stages of the design process.

Key Responsibilities:

Developing concepts and feasibility studies for highway improvement schemes
Carrying out preliminary and detailed design of active travel schemes
Creating technical drawings and plans using Autodesk CAD and Civil 3D modelling
Collaborating with internal teams and stakeholders to deliver project objectives
Ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations
Attending site visits and providing technical guidance on highway projects
Contributing to project reports and documentation
Managing project timelines and deliverables efficiently

Job Requirements:

Experience in highway engineering
Competency in Autodesk CAD and Civil 3D modelling
Strong understanding of highway design principles and processes
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Possession of a valid driving licence (Category B)
Flexibility to work in a hybrid environment with 2 days/week in the Winchester office
Attention to detail and strong communication skills

Job Details:

Contract Duration: 6 months
Working Hours: 37 hours per week
Planned Start Date: 12 January 2026
Work Location: Hybrid
