Who you'll be joining
My client is a leading civil engineering organisation delivering safe, sustainable and efficient transport solutions across the UK.
You will be part of a collaborative team that focuses on high-quality delivery, safety and innovation on infrastructure, highways and public realm projects. You'll be supported by experienced engineers, site management and a dedicated survey team to help you succeed in your Site Engineer role.
What you'll be doing
In this Site Engineer position, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of highways and public realm schemes, including:
·Setting out works for road widening, new cycle paths and pedestrian improvements in line with design drawings and specifications.
·Establishing accurate levels and survey control and working closely with the Survey team to ensure precision throughout the project.
·Supporting the site management team with day-to-day engineering duties and coordinating subcontract packages.
·Checking and recording delivered materials to ensure compliance with project specifications, including those supplied by subcontractors.
·Performing quality checks in line with inspection and test plans and maintaining detailed records of works such as excavations, concrete pours and reinforcement.
·Carrying out as-built surveys and keeping calibration records up to date for all instruments on site.
·Working with designers and client representatives to resolve design queries and implement any agreed changes effectively.
·Assisting with the preparation of method statements, task briefings and inspection/test plans.
·Promoting a strong safety culture on site and adhering to all health, safety and environmental requirements.
·Working in accordance with my client's Business Management System policies and procedures.
What you'll need to succeed
You will bring a solid civil engineering background and a proactive, solutions-focused approach. Ideally, you will have:
·Experience on infrastructure and/or civils projects such as streetworks, earthworks, structures, highways, drainage or utilities.
·Experience working in a structured site environment alongside Section Engineers, subcontractors and a wider site management team.
·Proven experience of setting out on civil engineering projects and managing daily site activities.
Qualifications and training
To thrive as a Site Engineer in this role, you will have:
·HNC/Degree in Construction or Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
·Working towards professional membership (e.g. ICE) or keen to progress in that direction.
·CSCS card.
·First Aid training.
·IOSH / SSSTS training (or willingness to obtain, if required).
Where and how you'll work
This is a full-time Site Engineer role on live civil engineering projects, with the majority of your time spent on site. You'll work closely with the project and site teams, with flexibility for hybrid working on suitable tasks such as planning, reporting and documentation, where project needs allow.
Projects will be highways and public realm focused, with locations to be confirmed during the recruitment process based on live and upcoming work.
