Southport Secondary School is seeking an exceptional History Teacher to join our dynamic Humanities department this September. This is a fantastic opportunity to shape the historical thinking of students in a school that values high expectations, creativity, and academic excellence.

A qualified teacher (QTS/QTLS or equivalent) with a strong track record in delivering engaging and rigorous History lessons at Key Stages 3 and 4.
Deep subject knowledge and a genuine enthusiasm for the past - from ancient civilisations to modern conflicts.
Someone who sets the bar high - for students and for themselves - and thrives in a demanding, fast-paced school environment.
A team player with the energy and commitment to contribute beyond the classroom.
Main Duties of a History Teacher
Plan and Deliver Lessons - Teach engaging, challenging, and well-structured lessons across KS3 and KS4 (and KS5 if applicable), in line with school and national curriculum expectations.
Assess and Monitor Progress - Mark work, set targets, and provide regular feedback to ensure student progress.
Curriculum Development - Contribute to the design, sequencing, and enrichment of the History curriculum.
Classroom Management - Maintain a purposeful learning environment through clear expectations and consistent behaviour management.
Parental Engagement - Communicate with parents/carers regarding student progress, behaviour, and well being.
Safeguarding - Uphold school safeguarding policies and be vigilant in protecting student's welfare.
Form Tutor Role - Support students pastorally, monitor attendance, and deliver tutor-time activities.
