Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) - ASD Specialist

Tradewind Recruitment have multiple HLTA positions available across North London schools, specialising in ASD support. These positions offer the opportunity to build a rewarding career in education while taking on greater responsibility and supporting neurodiverse children to reach their full potential.
As an HLTA specialising in ASD you will be responsible for the below:
Planning and delivering structured learning activities under the direction of teaching staff
Providing specialist 1:1 and small group support to children with Autism Spectrum Disorder
Leading on the implementation of individualised learning plans and EHCPs
Using visual supports, structured routines and autism-specific strategies to facilitate learning
Adapting and creating resources and activities to meet diverse sensory and communication needs
Monitoring, assessing and recording pupil progress and providing feedback to teachers
Supporting children's social communication skills, confidence, independence and self-advocacy
Contributing to the development of ASD provision and sharing best practice
Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals
Covering classes during teacher absence when required
To join us and be successful in this role you will need:
Proven experience working with children on the autism spectrum in an educational setting
Strong understanding of ASD-specific strategies, interventions and current best practice
Ability to plan, deliver and evaluate learning activities independently
Excellent communication skills and ability to remain calm when supporting children through difficulties
Experience working with EHCPs and supporting complex needs
Patience, empathy and ability to build positive relationships with children on the autism spectrum
Willingness to undertake further ASD-specific training and professional development
Relevant qualifications in autism, education, childcare or health and social care (desirable)
Current Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (where applicable) and professional references
Complete CV detailing employment history for the previous 10 years where available
Valid right to work in the UK
