Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) - Year 6 / Upper Key Stage 2 Location: Stoke-on-Trent Area Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience Contract: Full-time, permanent Aspire People are supporting a vibrant and supportive primary school in the Stoke-on-Trent area to recruit an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional with a strong background in supporting learning within Year 6 and/or Upper Key Stage 2. About the Role: The successful applicant will work closely with teaching staff to support the learning and development of pupils, particularly in preparation for the end-of-Key-Stage 2 assessments. You will also contribute to whole-class teaching during PPA and leadership time cover, and support targeted interventions with small groups. Key Requirements: - Recognised HLTA status or a relevant Level 3 NVQ qualification (or above) - Proven experience working as an HLTA, ideally within Year 6 - In-depth understanding of the Year 6 curriculum, including Reading, Grammar, Punctuation & Spelling, and Mathematics - Experience supporting the administration of Year 6 SATs and working with data and assessment outcomes - Ability to support small groups with adapted learning plans created by class teachers - Strong skills in identifying next steps for learners and supporting accelerated progress - Excellent organisational and classroom management skills - Skilled in behaviour management strategies that focus on relational and restorative practice - Reliable and proactive when covering PPA and leadership time within Year 6 What the School Offers: - A supportive working environment committed to staff wellbeing and professional development - Opportunities for career progression including pathways into teaching through Foundation degrees, BEds, and Assessment Only QTS - A friendly and inclusive school community where all staff are valued - Engaged and respectful pupils who thrive under nurturing, consistent support About the School: The school is located in a semi-rural setting on the outskirts of Stoke-on-Trent, set among open fields and woodland areas.
