Location: Grays, Essex
Pay: £100 – £150 per day
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Temporary (with potential to become permanent)
A thriving and welcoming primary school in Grays is seeking a committed and flexible Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join the team from September. This is a temporary position initially, with the possibility of becoming permanent for the right candidate.
As a HLTA, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the school. You’ll be confident delivering lessons in the absence of the class teacher, running small group interventions, and working collaboratively with colleagues to help pupils reach their full potential. A background or interest in PE is a bonus, but not essential to the role.
Key Responsibilities:
Support teaching and learning across a range of primary year groups as an HLTA
Deliver pre-planned lessons and provide classroom cover when required
Lead targeted interventions and group work to support pupil progress
Work closely with teachers to plan, prepare and assess learning activities
Help maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment
Contribute to whole-school life as a proactive and reliable HLTA
Requirements:
HLTA qualification or equivalent experience in a similar role
Previous experience working within a primary school setting
A flexible and professional approach to supporting children’s learning
Strong communication, behaviour management, and organisational skills

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
