Horizontal Borer, East Kilbride, Circa £46,000 per annum
We're recruiting an experienced Horizontal Borer to join a precision engineering team based in East Kilbride. This is a full-time, permanent role with a fixed day shift and flexibility on start/finish times.
This is a specialist position suited to individuals with experience operating conventional horizontal boring machines in a manufacturing or heavy engineering environment.
What you'll be doing:
Operating a conventional horizontal borer (e.g. Kerns Richard SH75 or similar)
Working from mechanical engineering drawings to produce precision components
Operating other machine tools as required (lathe, milling machine, drill)
Inspecting and measuring your own work to ensure tolerances are met
Assisting with standard operating procedures and continuous improvement
Using a forklift or overhead crane to load and unload materials (where licensed)
Following health & safety procedures and maintaining a clean work area
What we're looking for:
Proven experience in a manual machining role, ideally horizontal boring
Ability to read and interpret detailed mechanical drawings
High attention to detail and ability to work independently
Knowledge of safe working practices in a workshop environment
Forklift and/or overhead crane licence (advantageous)
What you can expect:
Circa £46,000 total package (£40,000 base salary, £5,000 employee ownership bonus (annually) and £1,000 performance-related bonus)
39 hours per week (Monday to Friday, fixed shift)
Flexible start/finish time (e.g. 06:00-14:30 or adjusted to suit)
32 days annual leave
