Job Description

Belmont Recruitment are currently seeking a Horticultural Assistant to support the delivery of plants and maintenance services across the Parks, Nature Reserves, gardens and green spaces. This is a full-time role working 37 hours per week (Mon – Fri).

Overview:
The Horticultural Assistant will contribute to the delivery of plant stock and assist the parks team with a variety of gardening and maintenance tasks to ensure green spaces are well cared for and welcoming to the public.

Main Duties:

  * Support the delivery of plants to the horticultural maintenance service using a variety of propagation and production techniques

  * Assist the parks team with gardening and cleansing duties including planting schemes, shrub pruning, litter picking, and emptying bins

  * Carry out day-to-day production and maintenance of plant stock, including application of chemical herbicides and insecticides and driving Parks Vehicles when required

  * Ensure all duties are completed in compliance with relevant health and safety procedures

  * Work outdoors in all reasonable weather conditions

Essential Criteria:

  * Experience in horticulture or gardening maintenance

  * Knowledge of plant propagation and production techniques

  * Ability to apply chemical herbicides and insecticides safely

  * Experience of working outdoors in varying weather conditions

  * Good communication and customer care skills
