Job Description
Elite Recruitment are looking for a Hostel Concierge to join an organisation in Torquay.
This position, is an ad hoc role where you will be working when people are off sick or away on holiday. This position offers an hourly rate of £19.32 per hour.
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
Good communication & IT skills
Basic numeracy & problem-solving ability
Courteous and respectful with all customers
Able to work well in a team and independently
Calm under pressure, especially with challenging behaviour
Understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality
Basic knowledge of mental health/substance misuse issues (desirable)
Experience with overnight security or hospitality (essential)
GCSEs in Maths & English (or equivalent)
Willingness to work unsociable hours’/shift patterns
As a hostel concierge you will be responsible for:
Provide overnight concierge cover on a rota basis
Be the first point of contact for residents during the night
Control access to the building and monitor CCTV
Carry out hourly health & safety checks
Record incidents, update logs, and complete reports
Deal with emergencies (fire, first aid, contacting services)
Undertake basic repairs/cleaning (e.g. changing light bulbs, clearing hazards)
Support residents by listening and offering reassurance overnight
Carry out room checks when required
Handle neighbour complaints or concerns appropriately
Ensure clear handover of information to day staff
Participate in supervision, training, and team meetings
