We are looking to recruit enthusiastic Housing Occupational Therapists to join a well-structured and dynamic private company all over England .
Responsibilities include:
To undertake comprehensive assessments of service users' housing needs, and make recommendations for suitable housing in accordance with 1996 Housing Act, Part VI (Allocation of Housing Accommodation) and Part VII (Homelessness).
To be responsible for and manage a mixed caseload including households affected by the Grenfell Tower fire and households on the council's Housing Register; ensuring casework is carried out in an appropriate & timely fashion, including adherence to deadlines.
To assess and advise service users on housing options and other areas of daily activities, with due regard to the 2014 Care Act, the 2010 Equality Act, the 1996 Housing Grants Construction and Regeneration Act, the 1990 National Health Service and Community Care Act, the 1986 Disabled Persons (Services, Consultation and Representation) Act, the 1989 Children Act, 1985 Disability Discrimination Act, and the 1970 Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act.
To adjust the environment to maximise independence and safety for disabled housing applicants by recommending, ordering and following up (including demonstration and instruction) appropriate and cost-effective equipment and/or minor adaptations in settled or temporary accommodation, in accordance with relevant Occupational Therapy policies and procedures.
To communicate effectively with housing applicants and their families.
To identify need for and make referrals to other services where appropriate.
To liaise with health, social service and voluntary sector colleagues, and other relevant agencies in order to provide continuity of care.
To maintain concise records of assessments and other contacts with clients, relatives and other professionals in accordance with departmental and professional policies.
To assess void properties to in terms of their accessibility in line with the London Accessible Housing Register (LAHR) criteria and/or their suitability for individual disabled people, including potential for adaptation.Requirments
Previous experience working as a Housing Occupational Therapist in the community
Manual handling experience
Major adaptation experience
HCPC Registration
Enhanced DBS/CRB (we can obtain for you)
Eligibility to work in the UK
Occupational Therapist Qualification
