Job Description

About the Role: One of my local government clients is seeking a skilled and proactive Housing Officer to join their team and provide high-quality, tenancy-focused housing management services across a designated patch of approximately 250 homes. Based at the Buckland Housing Office, this role is essential in delivering excellent customer service, maintaining tenancies, addressing anti-social behaviour, and ensuring tenants understand and meet their responsibilities. If you have a background in social housing—or transferable skills from areas such as the police, social work, debt advice, or estate agency—we welcome your application. Key Responsibilities: * Support tenants in understanding and fulfilling their tenancy obligations. * Provide advice on budgeting, income maximisation, home upkeep, and garden maintenance. * Tackle tenancy breaches and anti-social behaviour, taking enforcement action where appropriate. * Work collaboratively as part of multi-agency teams to support vulnerable tenants and families. * Visit tenants in their homes and engage with customers from diverse backgrounds. * Keep clear and methodical case records using Microsoft Office and housing IT systems. * Represent the Council at court hearings and multi-agency meetings. * Manage and prioritise a demanding and varied workload effectively. * Deliver responsive and customer-driven services in a fast-paced, evolving environment. Candidate Profile: We are looking for someone who can demonstrate the following: 1. Experience working with tenants in a front-line, customer-facing role. 2. Confidence in handling difficult conversations and challenging behaviours with empathy and professionalism. 3. Ability to work independently, using sound judgement to resolve complex housing issues. 4. Excellent time management and prioritisation skills. 5. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write formal documents and represent the Council publicly. 6. Experience with tenancy enforcement, support, and proactive intervention. 7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and case management systems. 8. Awareness of the social and personal challenges faced by tenants and how to tailor support accordingly. 9. A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle is advantageous, as travel between estates and area offices may be required. 10. Flexibility to work from any of the 7 area offices and outside core hours when necessary. If interested in this role please send your CV to Lee-Jaun at Coyle Personnel Ltd
