Job Description

Belmont Recruitment are currently recruiting for experienced Housing & Tenancy Sustainment Brokers to join a specialist housing support service on an ongoing temporary basis, initially for 3 months with the potential to extend. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in housing support, homelessness, tenancy sustainment, private rented sector lettings, supported housing, probation or related services, who is passionate about helping people with complex needs secure and maintain safe, stable accommodation. Working across London and Surrey, you will have a dual focus: securing suitable private rented accommodation for clients and providing ongoing tenancy sustainment support to help prevent homelessness and tenancy breakdown. You will work with individuals who may have experienced homelessness and may have additional complexities including offending histories, substance misuse, poor mental health or other vulnerabilities. Key Responsibilities * Source suitable private rented accommodation for clients with multiple and complex needs. * Develop and maintain positive relationships with landlords, letting agents, local authorities and housing providers. * Negotiate tenancies and promote the support package available to clients to secure landlord engagement. * Match clients to appropriate properties based on their needs, risks, location and support requirements. * Support clients through the tenancy set-up process, including viewings, documentation, deposits, incentives and moving into their new home. * Provide one-to-one, person-centred and trauma-informed tenancy sustainment support. * Support clients with rent, bills, budgeting, benefits and other practical housing-related matters. * Carry out regular welfare checks, tenancy visits and ongoing contact to monitor housing stability. * Work proactively to address rent arrears, neighbour disputes, landlord concerns and other tenancy issues. * Take early action to prevent tenancy breakdown and potential eviction. * Advocate for clients and support access to grants, safeguarding services and other appropriate interventions. * Work collaboratively with probation, housing teams, drug and alcohol services, mental health services and other partner agencies. * Attend relevant multi-agency meetings and housing panels where required. * Maintain accurate case records and ensure all activity complies with safeguarding, GDPR, lone-working and health & safety requirements. About You We are looking for someone who can demonstrate: * Previous experience supporting vulnerable adults to access or sustain accommodation. * Experience within housing, homelessness, supported housing, tenancy sustainment, PRS lettings, probation or a similar environment. * Good knowledge of tenancy sustainment and the challenges faced by people at risk of homelessness. * An understanding of landlord/tenant relationships and housing-related issues. * Excellent relationship-building and negotiation skills. * The ability to engage effectively with both clients and landlords. * Experience working with individuals with complex needs and/or multiple vulnerabilities. * A good understanding of safeguarding and risk management. * Strong communication, organisation and IT skills. * The ability to work independently, manage a mobile caseload and undertake community-based work. * A proactive, solution-focused approach and the resilience required to work with challenging situations. * A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle would be highly desirable/essential depending on service requirements
