Anderson Knight are working with a long-standing client in the construction sector to recruit an experienced and confident HR Manager for their Edinburgh office.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a values-driven organisation where you’ll play a pivotal role in day-to-day HR operations, while supporting and advising line managers across the business.
About the Role
This is a hands-on, generalist position with a strong focus on transactional HR support and employee relations. You’ll act as a trusted partner to operational managers and oversee a small HR team, helping to ensure consistency and compliance across all HR activity.
Experience in unionised environments would be particularly beneficial, as the role includes regular interaction with trade union representatives.
Key Responsibilities
* Line management of an HR Advisor, supporting them in daily HR operations
* Coaching and advising managers on people practices and policy adherence
* Supporting on ER matters including disciplinaries, grievances, and investigations
* Liaising with Occupational Health and managing absence cases
* Coordinating the annual Performance Development Review (PDR) process
* Managing relationships with recruitment agency partners
* Preparing HR reports for senior leadership and management meetings
* Contributing to ad hoc HR projects and continuous improvement
* Working closely with operational teams to support resourcing needs
* Overseeing the issue of contracts and employment documentation
* Responding to HR-related queries from employees and managers
* Identifying and escalating potential areas of HR-related risk
What We’re Looking For
* Proven experience as an HR Manager or Senior HR Advisor operating at a similar level
* Strong knowledge of employment law and employee relations
* Comfortable working with trade unions or in unionised environments
* Construction, manufacturing, or engineering background preferred
* Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
* Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and ability to prioritise effectively
* Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and other MS Office products
