The role will be central in managing operational and compliance-related risks related to the workforce while supporting long-term strategic objectives.
Role Overview
The HR Manager will be a key member of the management team with full oversight of the employee lifecycle—from recruitment through to exit. Working alongside an HR Administrator and a newly appointed Development Coordinator, the HR Manager will advise and support line managers on all aspects of HR while driving consistency, compliance, and positive engagement across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Organisational Development
* Align HR activity with organisational goals, including recognition and employer brand positioning.
* Contribute to business strategy by providing insights on people frameworks, engagement, and workforce planning.
* Support innovative people-led initiatives that contribute to long-term growth and sustainability.
People Management & Culture
* Promote a positive, inclusive, and values-led working environment.
* Lead recruitment, onboarding, and induction processes alongside hiring managers.
* Support employee engagement and retention through performance management and development initiatives.
* Oversee employee benefits to ensure competitiveness and relevance across all levels.
Operational HR
* Ensure HR policies and procedures are up to date and compliant with legislation, advise managers on employment law, employee relations, performance issues, and disciplinary procedures.
* Manage supplier relationships (e.g. recruitment partners, benefits providers).
* Monitor attendance, sickness, and other people-related metrics.
* Maintain accurate HR records and data systems (e.g. HRIS), ensuring GDPR compliance and provide HR reporting and KPIs to the senior leadership team.
Governance & Risk
* Maintain compliance with all employment laws, data protection regulations, and internal governance.
* Strengthen internal control points within HR processes to mitigate operational risk.
* Identify and recommend improvements to current policies, procedures, and documentation.
* Ensure consistent application of policies across departments.
Leadership
* Lead, support, and develop direct reports through regular performance reviews and feedback.
* Promote a collaborative team culture that encourages professional growth and cross-functional understanding.
* Monitor team performance against KPIs and foster a right-first-time approach.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
* 2+ years in an HR Manager-level position or equivalent
* CIPD Level 5 qualification (or higher)
* Strong working knowledge of employment law and HR best practice
* Experience working with sensitive and confidential employee data (in line with GDPR)
* Strong IT skills, especially in Microsoft Word and Outlook
