Denholm Good Logistics continually push boundaries to deliver cutting-edge shipping services and supply chain management solutions, empowering businesses to reduce costs and increase overall efficiencies Purpose of the Role The HSE Manager will support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) standards across a fast-paced warehousing and logistics operation. The role is responsible for ensuring legal compliance, reducing risk, promoting a positive safety culture, and supporting operational teams to work safely and sustainably. Key Accountabilities * Provide practical HSE advice and guidance to managers, supervisors, and employees. * Conduct workplace inspections, audits, risk assessments, and ensure effective safe systems of work are in place. * Support environmental management, including waste, spill prevention, energy efficiency, and environmental compliance. * Monitor compliance with UK HSE legislation, company policies, and industry best practice. * Develop, review, and implement risk assessments, policies, procedures, and safe working practices. * Lead or support accident, incident, and near-miss investigations, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions. * Monitor HSE performance, analyse trends, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. * Deliver HSE training, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns to promote employee engagement and a positive safety culture. * Maintain accurate HSE records, including training, risk assessments, inspections, and incident data. * Support emergency planning, fire safety, contractor management, and liaise with regulators and key stakeholders where required. Key Measures of Success * Reduction in incidents, repeat safety failures, damage, waste, and operational losses. * Improved safety engagement, reporting culture, audit performance, and legal compliance. * Delivery of operational performance without compromising safety. * Improved productivity, cost control, and financial benefits through effective HSE initiatives. * Strong leadership presence, employee engagement, and consistent standards across all sites. Skills & Experience * NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent). * Experience within warehousing, logistics, or distribution. * Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and risk management. * Experience investigating incidents, conducting audits, and delivering HSE training. * Strong communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills. * Proficient in Microsoft Office. * Desirable: IOSH membership, Fire Safety or Environmental qualification, Internal Auditor qualification, and experience with FLT or other high-risk warehouse operations.
