Our client is seeking a Health & Safety advisor in Macclesfield, the Health & Safety Advisor will lead the implementation of a professional, competent and knowledge sharing culture across all sites ensuring that best in class health, safety and environment is planned, implemented and shared effectively.
Responsibilities Key Responsibilities
* Lead by example, promoting a positive and proactive health and safety culture across all project activities.
* Provide expert, industry-leading health and safety advice to project stakeholders, ensuring compliance with best practices and legislation.
* Conduct regular audits and inspections of workplaces in line with Business Unit HSE Manager guidance, ensuring appropriate frequency and level of engagement.
* Attend sites following accidents or incidents, supporting investigations and, where required, leading investigations in the absence of the Project Director or HSE Manager.
* Liaise with enforcement authorities during site visits or investigations, ensuring professional and compliant engagement.
* Assist tender and prequalification teams, particularly in the absence of the HSE Manager, by identifying risks and proposing practical, compliant solutions.
* Participate in project start-up meetings with line management and site teams and attend additional project meetings as required.
* Deliver relevant health and safety training to site personnel, ensuring understanding and adherence to safe working practices.
* Stay informed of legislative updates and industry best practices to provide current and competent health and safety guidance.
* Maintain awareness of personal competency limits and ensure all advice provided remains within professional scope.
Experience and Skills
* Minimum 3 years’ experience in the construction industry and HSEQ Advisor
* Technical membership of IOSH (Tech IOSH)
* Assist tender and prequalification teams by advising on safety concerns and practical solutions where required
* Deliver appropriate health and safety training to site staff
* Recognise the limits of competence and seek further support where required.
* Strong organisational and time management skills
* Effective interpersonal and engagement skills
* Understanding of performance management processes
Qualifications and Training Required
* NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent
* NVQ Level 4 or EQF Level 3 in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent
* Local PD/CDM and PSDP/PSCS training
* Awareness of lifting operations including BS7121 and IS361
* Temporary works awareness including understanding of the TWC role
