Anderson Knight are delighted to be working on a retained basis with our client who are looking to appoint an HSEQ Advisor.
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Health & Safety Advisor to join their Integrated Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ) Team. The role will be site-based and will support the rapidly expanding business deliver projects across Scotland within the power transmission and distribution sector.
You will play a key role in promoting a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with legislation, client and company requirements, and supporting operational teams to deliver work safely and efficiently.
Experience working in power transmission and distribution environments is highly desirable however, support will be given to the successful candidate who demonstrates strong HSEQ knowledge, skills and experience.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide site-based Health & Safety advice and support across multiple projects.
• Conduct regular site inspections, audits and surveillance of sites.
• Supporting site management teams to deliver toolbox talks, briefings, and inductions.
• Ensure emergency equipment and systems are inspected, maintained and ready for use.
• Prepare clear reports, track findings and ensure timely close-out of corrective actions.
• Facilitate internal and external audits.
• Ensure compliance with HSE standards and regulatory requirements.
· Review of safety related documentation such as Construction Phase Plans, HSE plans, RAMS etc.
· Collaborate with site teams to conduct risk assessments and develop action plans to mitigate hazards.
• Provide expert input during incident and accident investigations, identifying root cause and corrective actions.
• Promote innovation and best practice.
• Assist with the development, implementation and review H&S policies and procedures.
• Maintain accurate H&S records to meet legislative, contractual and internal requirements.
• Assist in the development and implementation of emergency response plans.
• Conduct on site emergency drills and training exercises.
Skills & Experience
· Possess a professionally recognised UK qualification in occupational health and safety with at least 2 years' experience.
· Be conversant with UK health and safety statutory requirements.
· Able to engage with colleagues and clients at all levels in a professional manner.
· Confident communicator, able to influence site teams and stakeholders.
· Develop strong, proactive working relationships and lead positive cultural creation.
· Pragmatic, solutions driven and independent worker.
· Strong investigative, reporting and organisational skills.
· Full UK driving license.
· CSCS card / CCNSG safety passport (or prepared to gain prior to employment).
· Member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).
Desirable
• Able to demonstrate significant knowledge and experience in a HSEQ role, preferably within a high-risk sector such as power distribution however, significant knowledge, experience and transferable skillset is most desirable.
