Part-Time Humanities - Maternity Cover
Location: Blackburn
Start Date: October/November 2025
Contract: Part-Time (2 Days per Week) | Fixed Term until December 2026
Setting: Alternative Provision | Ages 11-16
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a passionate and adaptable Humanities Teacher to join a dedicated Alternative Provision setting, providing education for pupils aged 11-16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviour.
This role is a maternity cover, starting in October or November 2025, running until November 2026, for two days per week.
About the Role:
You'll be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, inclusive lessons in Humanities, tailored to meet the diverse needs of students who may struggle in mainstream education settings.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver History and RE lessons to small groups of students
Create a positive, safe, and supportive learning environment
Differentiate lessons to suit varying levels of ability and emotional needs
Work collaboratively with pastoral and support teams to promote student progress
Monitor and report on student developmentIdeal Candidate:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) - applications from ECTs also welcomed
Experience teaching History and/or Religious Education
A strong understanding of SEMH needs and behaviour management strategies
Resilience, patience, and the ability to build strong relationships with pupils
