Job Summary:
A specialist high-voltage services provider is seeking a skilled HV Commissioning Engineer to support the installation, testing, and commissioning of substations and private networks across a diverse portfolio of projects.
The Role:
As a HV Commissioning Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
* Installing, commissioning, maintaining, and upgrading HV equipment including switchgear, transformers, protection systems, and SCADA interfaces
* Supervising on-site activities, including equipment off-loading, panel installation, wiring modifications, and retrofit works
* Performing detailed testing and diagnostics, such as:
* CT/VT testing, primary and secondary injection
* Relay configuration and functional testing (electromechanical and solid-state)
* Control circuit checks, I/O testing, and SCADA integration
* Conducting planned maintenance and condition assessments (partial discharge, thermal imaging, oil testing)
* Producing method statements, risk assessments, test records, and final commissioning reports
Requirements:
* Proven experience commissioning HV substations and private networks
* Technical understanding of protection systems, HV safety rules, and electrical design drawings
* Proficient in primary/secondary injection, SCADA/I/O testing, and control circuit fault finding
* Full UK driving licence
* Strong documentation and communication skills
