Our client are seeking an experienced Air Conditioning Engineer to work across the Bournemouth area. This role involves maintaining and operating a variety of building HVAC systems, including both existing and newly installed equipment. You’ll be expected to carry out scheduled maintenance, respond to reactive repair requests, and diagnose and fix faults efficiently. The position also includes general maintenance support, such as minor plumbing tasks and assisting with unblocking toilets. Participation in an out-of-hours call-out rota is required, along with accurate and timely completion of work documentation.
Key Responsibilities:

Carry out scheduled maintenance activities based on the SFG20 guidelines
*
Respond to faults and breakdowns, completing air conditioning and electrical repairs as necessary
*
Undertake minor installation tasks and ensure all relevant paperwork is completed
*
Be flexible in supporting additional tasks in line with the contract requirements
*
Collaborate with colleagues across different service areas to deliver integrated support
*
Request materials and tools through your line manager or supervisor as needed
*
Be prepared to work outside of core hours when required, with appropriate compensation
*
Take part in an on-call rota for emergency response, with extra pay
*
Assist during mobilisation of new contracts or when service changes are introduced
*
Make full use of mobile devices for reporting, job tracking, and communication
*
Follow all financial processes and help improve operational efficiency
*
Support the on-site team in meeting all legal and compliance requirements
*
Always follow client-specific operational procedures
*
Ensure permission is secured from the client before entering restricted areas
*
Complete risk assessments and job documentation and seek client approval before starting work
Skills & Experience Required:
*
Proven ability to maintain, test, and diagnose issues across HVAC systems and lighting equipment
Must hold a recognised qualification in Air Conditioning or Refrigeration, such as:
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in AC and Small RefrigerationCity & Guilds 7189 or 6090 Level 3
- F-Gas Category 1 Certification (e.g. C&G 2079)
- At least five years’ hands-on experience in an air conditioning service role (not installation-focused)

Good working knowledge of split systems, air handling units, and packaged equipment
*
Must have a background in commercial HVAC systems, not domestic installations
*
Capable of handling both routine and minor installation tasks within the scope of the role
*
Able to anticipate and diagnose faults effectively and independently
*
Comfortable documenting work accurately both on paper and digital systems
*
Excellent attention to detail and strong interpersonal skills
*
Always well-presented, wearing appropriate uniform and PPE as provided
*
Delivers clear, courteous communication to clients and keeps them informed about job progress
*
Solid understanding of health and safety regulations and how they apply to your duties
*
Knowledgeable in building compliance and legal standards
*
Physically able to transport tools and equipment weighing up to 20kg
*
Must be able to join and participate in an out-of-hours call-out schedule
*
A full and valid UK driving licence is essential
