Hygiene Manager Location: Northampton Salary: £39,000 per annum Are you an experienced Hygiene Leader looking for your next opportunity in food manufacturing? Our client is seeking a proactive and driven Hygiene Manager to ensure their site maintains the highest standards of cleanliness, food safety, and audit readiness. This is a key role within their operation, leading the hygiene function and shaping the standards that keep their products safe and their factory audit compliant. About the Role As the Hygiene Manager, you will be responsible for developing and implementing hygiene schedules, maintaining audit-ready conditions, and driving continuous improvement across all production areas. You will lead and develop the hygiene team, ensuring they have the training, support, and guidance needed to excel. Your expertise will support internal and external audits, enhance the Quality Management System, and ensure compliance with BRC, HACCP, and all food safety legislation. Key Responsibilities Oversee and manage hygiene activities across the factory, ensuring all areas meet regulatory and audit requirements. Develop, maintain, and enhance cleaning schedules and Cleaning Instructions (CICs). Ensure the site is consistently audit-ready through strong hygiene standards and interim checks. Support internal and external audits and drive continuous improvements within the Quality Management System. Lead, train, and motivate the hygiene team to deliver high standards and operational excellence. Provide training in HACCP, Food Safety, and Listeria awareness to strengthen hygiene culture across the site. Maintain accurate documentation relating to cleaning schedules, chemical usage, and hygiene checks. Collaborate with Production, Technical, and Quality teams to resolve hygiene-related issues. About You Essential: Proven experience in hygiene management within a food manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of food safety standards including HACCP, BRC, and ISO 22000. Confident leader with experience developing and managing teams. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Desirable: Experience within high-care or allergen-controlled environments. Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, COSHH, and safe handling procedures. Key Performance Indicators Consistently maintaining audit-ready hygiene standards (measured by passing post-clean internal audits). Development and implementation of effective Cleaning Instructions (CICs). Delivery of HACCP, Food Safety, and Listeria training across the site. Driving continuous audit readiness and supporting BRC compliance through strong Quality Management System practices. Why Join Us?
