Hygiene Manager – Food Manufacturing
Location: Glasgow
Salary: Up to £50,000 + Benefits
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Are you an experienced Hygiene Manager looking for a new challenge in a fast-paced FMCG environment? We’re seeking a dedicated professional to lead hygiene operations on the night shift, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and compliance across the site.
Job Summary:
You will be responsible for maintaining hygiene standards throughout the site, managing a diverse team of personnel. While the main focus is on production and intake areas, your remit includes internal and external site cleanliness. You’ll also support senior management with additional duties as required.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management
Plan, organise, manage, and motivate the hygiene team to maximise cleaning standards.
Ensure equipment and staff are working effectively and efficiently.
Attend management and production meetings as required.
Develop and implement cleaning plans aligned with the engineering PPM schedule.
Manage hygiene spend on chemicals and equipment.
Compliance & Safety
Promote quality assurance, environmental, and health & safety awareness.
Ensure correct use of PPE and adherence to chemical safety instructions.
Maintain a tidy and compliant chemical store.
Enforce SOPs and work instructions.
Conduct hygiene audits and investigate non-compliance issues.
Liaise with pest control contractors and engineering teams.
Training & Development
Plan and deliver training for hygiene staff, ensuring records are maintained.
Assist in developing work instructions, procedures, and COSHH assessments.
Develop CIC cards and support implementation of quality systems.
Information Management
Communicate effectively with production and departmental managers.
Monitor and record hygiene schedules and audits.
Promote energy awareness and waste reduction.
Other Duties
Act as site contact for external cleaning suppliers.
Ensure all health & safety policies and company procedures are followed.
Report any breaches of policy or safety to senior management.
Qualifications & Experience:
Essential
IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent.
Qualification or experience in auditing.
Proven experience in a similar managerial role within an FMCG environment.
Personal Attributes
Strong team player with high attention to detail.
Organised, accurate, and reliable.
Able to work independently and lead a team effectively.
