Job Description

Abatec is assisting their client with the recruitment of an experienced Instrumentation & Control (I&C) Design Engineer.

The successful candidate will help deliver high-quality instrumentation and control design solutions on a major nuclear new-build project at Hinkley Point C, playing a key role in producing and reviewing detailed design deliverables, ensuring compliance with stringent safety and regulatory standards.

As I&C Design Engineer you will:

  * Producing and reviewing I&C design documentation, including hook-up drawings and detailed design deliverables

  * Carrying out technical assessments to ensure compliance with regulatory and project requirements

  * Preparing material take-offs, equipment schedules, and procurement specifications

  * Maintaining accurate and controlled project documentation in line with quality standards

  * Supporting construction and commissioning activities, including responding to technical queries on site

  * Collaborating with mechanical, electrical, civil, and control engineering teams to ensure integrated system delivery

Our client requires a I&C Design Engineer with:

  * Strong background in I&C design within nuclear, power, or other highly regulated industries

  * Knowledge of field instrumentation and safety-related systems

  * Experience with design tools such as AutoCAD, E3D/PDMS, or AVEVA E&I

  * Degree, HNC, or HND in a relevant engineering discipline

  * Professional membership (e.g. IET, InstMC) is advantageous

  * Experience working on nuclear-licensed sites is highly desirable

  * Familiarity with EPCC project lifecycles, configuration control, and nuclear QA processes

  * Strong problem-solving ability, communication skills, and attention to detail

  * Commitment to high safety and quality standards

Salary and benefits include:

  * £75,000 – £85,000 p/a
