Job Description

In Class Support Assistant Five Education are looking to recruit an In-Class Support Assistant in Cheddar. As a Support Assistant, you will have the opportunity to work closely with identified children and young people, encouraging them to learn and challenge themselves in their learning in the classroom. Children at this school also benefit from learning opportunities outside the classroom, including horticulture, animal care, forest school and cookery. The children have a diagnosis of Special Education Needs (SEN), predominantly children at the school have been diagnosed with Autism or ADHD and/ or mental health challenges. They will need extra help in the lessons and at break and lunchtimes. You will need to be an excellent motivator and be willing to persevere to help children raise their self-esteem and learn new skills. Experience is not necessary, but a can-do attitude, resilience and initiative are essential. You will need to be available during school hours: 8:30-15:30. This work is term-time only, the school prefers people who can offer 5 days a week, but they will consider people who can work a minimum of two days a week. Responsibilities and duties: · Supporting 1:1 in class and in outdoor activities · Help pupils to remain focused and regulated · Build strong relationships with the pupils and teaching staff to ensure that the pupils are achieving their full potential Essential Criteria: · Be empathetic, kind and patient · Have the right to work in the UK (A Valid Visa) · Two recent references, covering the last 2 years · Relevant DBS/Police checks, or willing to obtain What can Five Education offer you? · One of the best supply experiences in The South West - check out our google reviews! · Free specialised, in-person training in areas such as Team Teach, Makaton, PMLD/SLD Awareness, Autism Awareness, and more. · Subsidised initial DBS cost (refunded after working 20 days) · Specialist support/ mentoring while you are working The pay rate is £13.78* an hour. The day is 7 hours with an unpaid 30 min lunch break. Your daily rate of pay would be £89.66* but with a potential to earn more based on level of experience. *Including holiday pay Pay: Five Education operates a PAYE payroll; this is the most transparent way to be paid with no hidden fees such as admin fee or employers NI. We are also proud to be an accredited Living Wage employer. Please note pay rate is for illustration and does include holiday pay.
