Job Description
Behaviour Lead (Truancy Room) – Secondary – Luton (LU3)
Location: Luton, LU3
Contract: Full-time, immediate start until February half term (potential to extend)
Day rate: £140–£170 per day
School: Ofsted ‘Good’ secondary
We are working with a secondary school in Luton seeking a calm, confident Behaviour Lead to run their Behaviour/Truancy Room (internal exclusion). This is a full-time role to start immediately, continuing until February half term with the potential to extend.
The role
*
Lead the Behaviour/Truancy Room: manage referrals, supervise students removed from lessons, and deliver restorative conversations prior to reintegration.
*
Support whole-school behaviour standards, applying consistent routines and boundaries.
*
Coordinate with Attendance, Pastoral/Heads of Year and SLT to track patterns and implement interventions.
*
Record incidents and outcomes (e.g. CPOMS), communicating clearly with staff and, where appropriate, parents/carers.
*
Use de-escalation techniques to reduce conflict and support students with SEMH needs.
About you
*
Proven experience in a UK secondary setting within behaviour/inclusion/pastoral.
*
Skilled in restorative practice, de-escalation and calm, consistent follow-through.
*
Confident managing a room independently and liaising with multiple teams.
*
Team-Teach (or similar) desirable.
*
Strong safeguarding knowledge and excellent record-keeping.
Compliance
*
DBS on the Update Service is required.
*
Right to work in the UK and two recent, relevant references.
