About the Role:
One of my local government clients is seeking an experienced Income Officer to join their housing team on a temporary basis. You’ll play a crucial role in supporting the council’s rent collection function and managing tenant arrears.
Key Responsibilities:

Carry out rent collection duties across tenancies
*
Monitor and manage rent accounts to prevent and address arrears
*
Liaise with tenants to set up and maintain payment plans
*
Work with internal and external agencies to support tenants
*
Initiate legal proceedings where necessary in line with council policy
*
Provide excellent customer service and maintain accurate records
Requirements:
*
Previous experience in rent/income collection within a local authority or housing association
*
Knowledge of relevant housing legislation and debt recovery procedures
*
Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
*
Ability to manage a high caseload and prioritise effectively
