Independent Living Advisor – Recruitment Specialist Location: Two positions, one covering North and South Lanarkshire (primarily based in Hamilton, ML3 0XB) and another based in Glasgow, G40 3AP Salary: £27,234 per annum + Excellent Benefits! Contract: Permanent, Full time – 35 hours per week Benefits: 25 days annual leave increasing to 30 days after 5 years (pro-rata for part time staff), 12 ½ public holidays, 6% Pension contribution and Group Life Insurance! As an Independent Living Advisor (Recruitment Specialist), you will: * Meet or speak with supported people to understand their requirements and translate these into clear, person-centred job descriptions and vacancy adverts. * Provide guidance on advertising roles, safe recruitment practices (references, PVG checks, contracts), and inclusive approaches. * Support people to plan and carry out their own recruitment processes, preparing interview questions, structuring interviews, and making confident choices. * Offer practical help to those who need assistance with digital platforms or accessible formats. * Develop partnerships with local colleges, job centres, training providers, and community groups to promote PA opportunities. * Represent GCIL at local recruitment fairs and information events, raising awareness of the role of Personal Assistants. * Support adviser colleagues in delivering general SDS advice and guidance when required. This is a unique opportunity to demonstrate creativity within your role, we expect you to really get to understand the needs of our community and to translate this into fun, creative and upbeat adverts! In order to be successful in this role you should have: * Experience supporting or advising people in any setting (community, care, employment, or customer service). * Strong communication skills – written, verbal and listening. * Confident IT skills and experience using online communication or promotional platforms. * The ability to plan, organise, and manage a varied workload independently. * Excellent organisation and attention to detail. * A person-centred, respectful and inclusive approach. * A flexible, proactive attitude and willingness to learn. * Confidence delivering information to groups or individuals. * An understanding of inclusive, fair, and person-centred recruitment practices (or willingness to learn). * The ability to translate people’s needs into clear, practical information or actions. It would be great if you had: * Experience supporting recruitment or employment processes. * Knowledge of Self Directed Support (SDS) or Personal Assistant roles. * Experience building partnerships or community links. * Knowledge of local job markets or community networks. * A creative approach to problem solving.
