Temporary IROs & Child Protection Chairs - Safeguarding Social Work Roles | Rochdale Council
Rochdale Council is seeking experienced Independent Reviewing Officers (IROs) and Child Protection Chairs to join our Safeguarding Unit. These key social work positions are critical to ensuring the welfare and safety of children in care and those subject to protection plans.
Role Responsibilities - IRO:
Chair statutory reviews for looked-after children.
Ensure care planning is timely, child-focused, and outcome-driven.
Advocate for children's voices, challenge drift, and delay in care planning.
Support service improvement and quality assurance initiatives.Role Responsibilities - Child Protection Chair:
Lead Initial and Review Child Protection Conferences.
Ensure multi-agency safeguarding plans are robust, evidence-based, and implemented effectively.
Promote professional challenge and best practice across safeguarding networks.
Support learning, reflection, and continuous improvement within the safeguarding team.Essential Experience & Skills:
Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England (minimum 5 years' experience).
Proven experience in child safeguarding, care planning, and multi-agency collaboration.
Confident in chairing complex meetings and providing professional challenge.
Strong analytical, communication, and relationship-building skills.
