The Inside Sales Representative plays a key role in driving revenue growth through inside channels. This position focuses on managing smaller and undercapitalised accounts, supporting product launches, enabling quoting and pricing, collaborating with external sales and distributors, and ensuring a high-quality customer experience. The role contributes directly to volume and margin growth by maximizing inside sales opportunities and supporting the broader commercial team.
Key Responsibilities
* Execute inside sales activities aligned to commercial goals: customer segmentation, prioritization of inbound vs. outbound opportunities, growth of existing accounts, cross/upsell, and new customer acquisition via inside channels.
* Manage customer interactions via phone, email, and web: respond to inquiries, sample requests, quotes, and contracts in a timely manner; coordinate with external sales and internal teams.
* Support product launches: communicate value propositions, pricing, and collateral to customers; collaborate with product management and R&D.
* Collaborate with sales, product management, and technical teams: share market and customer intelligence, support strategic accounts, and contribute to territory/segment plans.
* Track and report personal performance: sales KPIs (revenue, margin, lead conversion, pipeline), customer satisfaction, and identify areas for improvement.
* Maintain CRM discipline: update pipeline data, ensure accuracy of customer information, and use CRM tools to manage opportunities effectively.
Required Skills & Tools
* Commercial mindset: ability to apply value selling in specialties context, understand pricing trade-offs, and support margin management.
* Inside sales process knowledge: lead generation, qualification, quoting, order entry, CRM usage, and customer segmentation.
* Negotiation skills: experience in negotiating contracts and pricing agreements.
* Chemical industry knowledge: understanding of specialty chemicals, their applications, and market trends preferred.
* Excellent communication skills (phone/email), interpersonal abilities, and customer-service orientation.
* Analytical orientation: ability to monitor metrics, identify trends/issues, and contribute to process improvements.
* Tools: CRM systems, ERP/order entry systems, MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint), and sales analytics/dashboard tools.
* Process improvement orientation: willingness to refine inside-sales workflow, enablement, automation, and metrics.
Qualifications
Education
* Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering preferred, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
Experience
* Demonstrable experience of inside sales or commercial experience.
* Experience in chemical or specialty chemical industry preferred.
