Position: Instrument Technician
Location: Merseyside
Salary: £34k basic + overtime + allowances
The Company: Instrumentation Services
* The Instrument Technician is responsible for the maintenance, calibration, installation, and troubleshooting of a wide range of instrumentation.
* This role is crucial in ensuring that all instrumentation and control equipment operates at optimal performance, contributing to the efficiency and safety of engineering operations.
* Perform regular maintenance, calibration, and testing of instruments and control systems.
* Assist in the installation, configuration, and commissioning of new instrumentation and control systems.
* Ensure that all systems are properly integrated into the operational environment and perform as expected.
* Diagnose faults and carry out corrective actions in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
* Troubleshoot a variety of instrumentation systems, including pressure, temperature, flow, level, and analytical devices.
* Work with engineering teams to identify and resolve technical issues related to instrumentation.
* Maintain accurate logs and records of instrumentation and control system issues, repairs, and calibration activities.
* Prepare detailed reports and provide recommendations for improving system performance and reliability.
* Ensure adherence to all safety protocols and industry regulations, including environmental, health, and safety (EHS) requirements.
* Conduct risk assessments and ensure that instrumentation work is performed safely and efficiently.
* Work closely with engineers and other technical staff to support project development and ongoing operational activities.
* Provide technical support and training to other staff, as needed, on instrumentation systems and best practices.
Requirements:
* Apprenticeship in a technical / engineering subject. A relevant technical qualification (e.g., HNC/HND, NVQ, or equivalent) in Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering, or a technical / engineering discipline.
* Experience in a similar role as an Instrument Technician is desirable, however work experience in an engineering environment or working within a maintenance / service department is also acceptable.
* Experience with troubleshooting, and maintenance of a variety of equipment.
* Strong problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
* Knowledge of safe working practices and procedures in an industrial setting.
* A positive attitude and enthusiasm. Willing to learn Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
* Excellent communication and organizational skills. Strong time management and the ability to prioritize tasks
