Job Description
A diverse and growing business group, with trading entities across a range of sectors, is seeking an experienced Interim Financial Controller to join their leadership team on a 4-month contract. This is a key role providing full responsibility for financial reporting, audit, cashflow management, and driving efficiencies across the group.
The successful candidate will oversee a small finance team and work closely with the Group Managing Director and senior stakeholders to support strategic decision-making and ensure the financial health of the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead preparation of year-end accounts and manage the audit process across multiple entities.
Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards and statutory obligations.
Review and distribute monthly management accounts within agreed timelines.
Oversee quarterly VAT returns and ensure accurate, timely submission.
Manage and support a small finance team, fostering collaboration and development.
Maintain and update cashflow forecasts, identifying cost-saving initiatives.
Enhance financial processes, reporting efficiency, and systems usage (Xero and ERP platforms).
Act as a key point of contact for auditors, tax consultants, and banking partners.
Provide clear, insightful financial reporting to the Group Managing Director and senior leadership.
Candidate Profile:
Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with several years’ post-qualification experience.
Strong technical accounting knowledge, ideally within a multi-entity environment.
Proven ability to lead, organise and prioritise effectively.
Excellent communication skills with the confidence to engage stakeholders at all levels.
Proficient in financial systems, particularly Xero and ERP platforms.
