Job Description
Currently supporting my service sector client based in Herefordshire, with the recruitment of an Interim Group Financial Accountant who will play a key role in managing and reporting on the financial performance of a group of companies or business units within a larger corporate structure. Here's a breakdown of what they typically do for the next 6-9 months.
Core Responsibilities
Group Consolidation
Prepare consolidated financial statements for the entire group, combining results from multiple subsidiaries or entities.
Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards (e.g., IFRS or UK GAAP).
Financial Reporting
Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Support statutory reporting and liaise with auditors during year-end processes.
Intercompany Accounting
Manage transactions between group entities, ensuring they are correctly recorded and reconciled.
Technical Accounting Support
Provide guidance on complex accounting issues such as acquisitions, disposals, leases, and impairments.
Interpret and apply changes in accounting standards.
Budgeting and Forecasting Support
Collaborate with FP&A teams to ensure consistency between actuals and forecasts.
Provide insights into variances and trends.
Compliance and Controls
Ensure financial controls are in place and adhered to across the group.
Support internal audits and risk management initiatives.
Stakeholder Collaboration
Work closely with finance teams across subsidiaries, senior management, and external advisors.
Skills & Qualifications
Strong technical accounting knowledge.
Proficiency in financial systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Hyperion).
Qualified accountant (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
Excellent analytical and communication skills.
