Job Description

Interim Housing Officer – Devon
Contract: 3 months (with potential extension)
Rate: Negotiable hourly rate (DOE)
Location: Devon

We are seeking an experienced Interim Housing Officer to join a busy housing provider in Devon on an initial 3-month contract. This is a hands-on role managing a complex patch of up to 100 properties, requiring strong tenancy management skills and the ability to handle challenging cases with confidence and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

  * Manage a defined patch of residential properties, delivering a high-quality housing management service

  * Handle anti-social behaviour (ASB) cases, including investigation, enforcement, and partnership working

  * Support vulnerable residents, working with external agencies to sustain tenancies

  * Manage and reduce rent arrears, including recovery action and tenant engagement

  * Respond to and manage cases relating to damp and mould, ensuring compliance with Awaab’s Law and internal policies

  * Carry out tenancy visits, inspections, and risk assessments

  * Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with all relevant housing legislation

Requirements

  * Proven experience in a Housing Officer / Tenancy Management role

  * Strong working knowledge of ASB case management, safeguarding, and tenancy law

  * Experience dealing with complex and high-demand patches

  * Understanding of Awaab’s Law, damp and mould regulations, and property compliance

  * Ability to manage arrears and engage effectively with tenants in difficult circumstances

  * Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills

  * Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (preferred)
