Warehouse & Logistics Manager

Salary: £52,000 per annum (pro-rated for temporary contract)
Contract Type: Temporary (anticipated 3 Month duration)
Purpose of the Role:
The Warehouse & Logistics Manager will oversee the end-to-end logistics operations at the Leeds site, ensuring the efficient movement and distribution of goods across both UK and international markets. This includes working closely with cross-functional teams to manage inventory, inbound/outbound shipments, and compliance with relevant regulations. The role requires leadership in improving warehouse processes, maintaining system accuracy, and driving continuous improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
Warehouse & Logistics Management:
Coordinate inbound and outbound logistics, including both domestic and international shipments.
Ensure warehouse operations are run efficiently, monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive continuous improvement.
Manage stock levels to ensure materials are available for production and project needs.
Ensure cost-effective and timely transport of goods to customers, suppliers, and service engineers.
Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers, couriers, and freight forwarders.
Oversee shipping documentation preparation, including export, customs forms, and commercial invoicing.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Collaborate with Procurement to align on lead times, deliveries, and supplier shipments.
Work with the Projects team to ensure timely delivery of materials supporting installation and commissioning.
Support Production teams to ensure visibility of parts availability and readiness.
Ensure standardized processes and procedures across all sites within the business.
Provide logistics input in planning meetings and project reviews.
Process Improvement & Compliance:
Monitor KPIs related to delivery performance, shipping accuracy, and freight costs.
Drive process improvements in logistics and packaging standards to reduce costs and improve service levels.
Ensure compliance with HMRC, import/export, customs regulations, and Incoterms.
Maintain accurate audit and reporting records for logistics and shipping activities.
Team Leadership:
Lead the Warehouse & Logistics team, supporting daily operations and prioritizing tasks.
Provide coaching and training to enhance team members' logistics and system knowledge.
Foster a customer-focused, accountable, and collaborative team culture.
Support performance management, conduct, and absence processes in partnership with HR.
Skills and Experience:
Essential:
Proven experience with ERP systems in a warehouse and logistics environment, ideally in manufacturing or engineering sectors.
Strong knowledge of international shipping procedures, Incoterms, and customs documentation.
Excellent coordination, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft systems and logistics software.
Desirable:
Experience in process improvement within a warehouse or logistics function.
Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
Skills & Attributes:
Highly organized with exceptional planning and time management abilities.
Proactive problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve issues and discrepancies swiftly.
Strong attention to detail and a focus on data accuracy.
Able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining composure under pressure.
Skilled at working cross-functionally and building relationships across teams.
Additional Information:
The role is based at the Leeds site, with working hours from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
Salary for this position is £52,000 annually (pro-rated for the 3-month duration).
