Intermediate / Senior Fire Engineer
Remote | Up to £70k DOE
A growing multidisciplinary engineering and sustainability consultancy is looking to appoint an Intermediate / Senior Fire Engineer to support the continued growth of its fire engineering division. Working across a diverse portfolio of commercial, residential, industrial and mission-critical developments, this is an excellent opportunity to join a business offering genuine career progression, project ownership and exposure to technically challenging schemes.
This role would suit an experienced Fire Engineer looking to take the next step in their career within a collaborative consultancy environment.
The Role
As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for delivering fire engineering solutions and supporting projects through planning, design and construction.
Key responsibilities include:
Preparing Fire Strategy Reports for a variety of building types.
Producing Fire Statements to support planning applications.
Undertaking means of escape assessments and occupancy calculations.
Developing compartmentation and passive fire protection strategies.
Advising on smoke control, firefighting access and evacuation strategies.
Supporting compliance with Building Regulations, Approved Document B and relevant British Standards.
Liaising with architects, developers, contractors, Building Control and other stakeholders.
Attending client and design team meetings.
Supporting project delivery across residential, commercial, industrial and mission-critical developments.
Mentoring graduate and junior engineers where appropriate.
About You
To be considered, youll ideally have:
A degree in Fire Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
Approximately 4-10 years experience within a Fire Engineering Consultancy.
Experience producing Fire Strategies independently.
Strong knowledge of:
Approved Document B
BS 9999
BS 9991
Building Regulations
Fire Safety legislation and guidance
Strong communication and client-facing skills.
Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
A proactive and commercially aware approach.
Desirable Experience
Membership of the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE).
Chartered status or working towards Chartership.
CFD modelling experience using FDS, Pathfinder or similar software.
Experience on high-rise residential, mixed-use, logistics, industrial or data centre projects.
Experience working within BIM-enabled project environments.
