Workshop Engineer (x2) - Hydraulic/Mechanical Assembly
Location: Gloucester
A well-established engineering services business is seeking two Workshop Engineers to join its internal workshop team. This is a hands-on role supporting increased demand, focused on the build, assembly, and testing of industrial equipment within a structured workshop environment.
The Role
You will be responsible for assembling, testing, and preparing equipment from engineering drawings through to final build. The role involves working on bespoke mechanical systems and components, ensuring quality, performance, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
Assemble mechanical systems, sub-assemblies, and components from engineering drawings
Build and configure equipment including pumps, motors, valves, and associated components
Carry out pipework and hose assembly where required
Perform testing, inspection, and basic system validation
Carry out mechanical fitting, alignment, and general assembly tasks
Ensure equipment meets required performance and quality standards
Complete build records, test documentation, and job reports
Maintain a safe, clean, and organised workshop environment in line with HSE standards
About You
Strong hands-on mechanical assembly and fitting experience
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
Experience working in a workshop, manufacturing, or assembly environment
Some exposure to fluid power or similar systems is beneficial
Good attention to detail and quality standards
Basic understanding of electrical or control components is advantageous
Relevant engineering qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3 or apprenticeship) preferred
Desirable Skills
Welding experience (MIG/TIG)
Forklift licence
Exposure to CAD drawings or design reviews
Working Environment
Workshop-based role with hands-on mechanical work
Involves standing for extended periods and manual handling of components
Collaborative team environment with a focus on quality and safety
