Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) / Child Protection Chair - Pembrokeshire County Council Location: County Hall, Freemans Way, Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, SA61 1TP Pay: PAYE £28.05 per hour | Umbrella/Ltd £35.77 per hour Hours: 37 per week Contract: Temporary (12 weeks, long-term sickness cover) IR35: Inside IR35 The Role Pembrokeshire County Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) / Child Protection Chair to join our Children's Services team. This role will play a vital part in achieving positive outcomes for looked after and accommodated children, by ensuring robust quality assurance and statutory reviewing functions. As an Independent Reviewing Officer, you will: Deliver the statutory reviewing function for young people looked after by the Local Authority. Ensure care plans are appropriate, timely, and of high quality, with the child's voice central to all decisions. As a Child Protection Chair, you will: Lead multi-agency child protection conferences. Ensure that children living in high-risk situations are safeguarded and their needs are fully addressed. Why Join Pembrokeshire? Requirements Qualified Social Worker, registered with Social Care Wales (or equivalent, with ability to register). Significant post-qualifying experience in children's services. Experience in chairing child protection conferences and statutory reviews. Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, statutory guidance, and best practice.
