We are recruiting for an IT Manager for a fantastic company based just outside Southampton. The company has just over 300 users across several sites, it is a successful and growing business, innovative and invests in IT.
This role reports to the Head of IT and is responsible for a small IT Support Engineer team. The role plays a pivotal role in maintaining the stability, security and performance of the company’s IT systems.
It is a role you can make your own and input your continuous improvement ideas. The team and company are a fantastic work environment, one of the best.
The Role
This role leads a small but high performing team, focused on the following:
* Taking ownership of operational performance and team coordination
* Providing assurance to the Head of IT on service compliance, health and technical risks
* Champion best practice across service delivery, patch management and system resilience
* Contribute directly to the ongoing ISO 27001 certification and Cyber Essentials Plus compliance
* Act as deputy to the Head of IT, maintaining continuity of leadership
Some specific tasks include:
* Operational leadership – ie lead daily IT Operations, ensuring system stability and uptime. Managing a small team of 2, mentoring them and providing direction, coaching and escalation support.
* System & Infrastructure – ie monitor infrastructure, including Azure, Intune, Microsoft 365 and networking. Ensure regular patching, updates and endpoint compliance. Support the deployment and testing of configuration and policy changes.
* Service Delivery – ie own the service delivery KPIs, and drive process improvement through ITIL aligned practices. Produce weekly operational reports.
* Governance, Security and Compliance – ie Support Cyber Essentials Plus and ISO 27001, ensure adherence to patching, backup and endpoint compliance metrics.
The Ideal Candidate
We’re looking for the following in the successful candidate:
* Solid, progressive experience in IT operations or Service delivery in a (Apply online only) user Organisation.
* Hands on experience with Microsoft 365, Azure AD/ Entra ID and Intune endpoint management (or very close experience to this)
* Understanding of networking fundamentals, patch management and system monitoring.
* Practical knowledge of ITIL principles
* Confident in coaching/mentoring/motivating others.
In terms of personal attributes, it’s important you are methodical, calm and able to make decisions, work independently and take ownership. The team and company are super nice, so you need to be a decent, ethical person who works well in a team.
