I’m excited to be partnering with a leading organisation in Cambridge as they look to appoint an IT Manager. This is a senior, hands-on role within a well-established IT function, combining leadership responsibility with day-to-day technical delivery across a complex, multi-site environment.
Key Responsibilities
Act as a senior escalation point for complex infrastructure, server, and network issues
Lead day-to-day IT operations, ensuring reliable and high-quality service delivery across multiple sites
Support the delivery of IT strategy, translating objectives into practical plans and improvements
Oversee infrastructure, systems, and cyber security across the organisation
Drive service improvement, technical standards, and operational consistency
Deliver and support infrastructure projects including upgrades, migrations, and enhancements
Maintain a hands-on approach, supporting users and resolving technical issues where required
Line manage and develop the IT team, promoting high standards and collaboration
Experience Required
Proven experience in a hands-on IT Manager or senior infrastructure role
Strong Microsoft ecosystem experience (Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Azure)
Broad infrastructure knowledge including networking, Wi-Fi, firewalls, servers, and cloud platforms
Experience supporting or delivering cyber security best practices (patching, backups, resilience)
Ability to balance strategic thinking with operational delivery
Experience managing or mentoring technical teams
Strong stakeholder communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences
Experience working in a multi-site or complex environment
Requirements
Able to work 5 days per week on-site in Cambridge
Willing to undergo enhanced background and vetting checks
