Java Developer - SC Cleared
£60-£70 per hour | 6-Month Rolling Contract | Hybrid (2-3 Days Onsite) | Newcastle
We're looking for an SC Cleared Software Engineer (or someone eligible to obtain SC Clearance) to join a collaborative Agile team developing cutting-edge cloud-based Geospatial software. This is an exciting opportunity to work with modern cloud technologies, contributing to the design, development, testing, and deployment of scalable, high-performance services.
This is a 6-month rolling contract with a hybrid working model, requiring 2-3 days per week onsite in Newcastle.
The Role
As a Software Engineer, you'll be involved throughout the full software development lifecycle, working within a supportive Agile Scrum environment to deliver innovative cloud-native solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Develop high-quality, scalable, and maintainable Java applications.
Build cloud-based services using modern development practices.
Write unit and automated tests to ensure software quality.
Participate in design and code reviews, promoting best practices for security, scalability, and maintainability.
Produce clear technical documentation and share knowledge across the team.
Contribute to sprint planning, estimations, daily stand-ups, and sprint reviews.
Collaborate closely with the wider Scrum team to deliver sprint commitments.
Champion continuous improvement and engineering excellence.
Essential Skills
Strong commercial experience with Java
Experience developing cloud-based services
Unit testing experience
Experience working within Agile/Scrum teams
Desirable Skills
DevSecOps tools such as Tekton, ArgoCD, and SonarQube
Red Hat OpenShift or Kubernetes
Quarkus Framework
Front-end development using Angular
Security Clearance
Candidates must hold active SC Clearance or be eligible and willing to undergo SC Clearance.

Rate: £60-£70 per hour
