This is a fantastic opportunity for a junior engineer who's recently completed an apprenticeship or holds a degree in electrical, automation or control engineering, and has 1-2 years of hands-on experience in the field. You'll join a supportive environment where you can develop your technical skills and grow your career quickly as part of a fast-moving business.
The Role:
As a Junior Control Systems Engineer, you'll support the delivery of automation projects, learning how to take designs from concept through to commissioning. You'll work on programming PLCs and HMIs, assist with electrical design and get hands-on experience testing systems and supporting site installations.
The role is mostly based in the office with the option to work from home on focused design tasks. Occasional site visits may be needed, most are local with some national travel.
What You'll Be Doing:
Assist with the design and development of automation systems for industrial clients
Learn to program and test PLC and HMI/SCADA systems
Work with the electrical design team and workshop on panel builds and layouts
Support system testing and help with commissioning on customer sites
Help troubleshoot and support systems after installation
Communicate with clients and internal teams to keep projects movingWhat We're Looking For:
A completed apprenticeship or a degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Control Systems, or similar
Around 1-2 years of experience in a hands-on control systems or automation role
Basic understanding of PLC programming and industrial automation
A proactive mindset and willingness to learn and take on responsibility
Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
A UK driving licence (or working towards one) for occasional site visitsNice to Have (but not essential):
Familiarity with HMI/SCADA platforms
Any experience with electrical panel design or build
Exposure to different PLC platforms (Siemens, Allen Bradley, etc.)This is an ideal next step if you're looking to move from a junior/trainee role into a more project-focused position with plenty of room to grow.
