Junior Mechanical Design Engineer
Bromsgrove, Worcestershire
£27,000 – £32,000

A growing engineering business based in Bromsgrove is looking to appoint an ambitious Junior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their close-knit design team. The company designs and manufactures bespoke machinery and equipment and is going through an exciting period of growth.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the early stages of their engineering career to gain hands-on experience, learn from experienced engineers, and develop into a highly skilled Design Engineer within a supportive and collaborative environment.
Several of the current Design Engineers originally joined as Juniors and have since moved into more senior positions, a great example of the clear progression routes and long-term prospects on offer within the business.
Working closely with experienced Lead Design Engineers, you will be involved in the full design lifecycle, contributing to bespoke machinery projects from concept through to manufacture.
You’ll receive structured mentorship and guidance from senior engineers and will be encouraged to contribute your own ideas as you develop.
Key responsibilities include:
* Supporting senior engineers with the creation and modification of 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings
* Taking ownership of your own design tasks and projects as your experience grows
* Contributing to design reviews, brainstorming sessions and problem-solving activities
* Liaising with production and assembly teams to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable
* Maintaining accurate design documentation and assisting with bills of materials (BOMs)
* Building your engineering and design skills under the guidance of experienced mentors
Key Requirements:
* Completed (or currently completing) an Engineering Apprenticeship or studying towards a HNC/HND in Mechanical or Design Engineering
* A working understanding of 3D CAD design software (SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor preferred)
* A willingness to learn, take on new challenges and adapt to a fast-paced environment
* Confident to contribute ideas and opinions in team discussions
* Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving
* Good communication and teamwork skills
