We are looking for a highly motivated and passionate Junior Apparel Designer to join our Design team at Hela Brand’s Head Office in Huddersfield. We are home to multiple brands across men’s, women’s, kid’s, apparel, footwear and accessories.
This role gives a great opportunity to the right candidate to work on Hela Brands’ “own brands” such as Ellesse, Nautica, AVX, Reebok and many more, with excellent progression opportunities.
Job Overview:
As a Junior Apparel Designer, you will play a key role in our creative team, contributing to the design and development of beautiful apparel collections.
This position is ideal for a motivated and passionate designer looking to grow their skills in a collaborative environment.
You will assist in all stages of the design process, from initial concept development to final production, ensuring that our products reflect the brand's vision and meet market trends.
Key Responsibilities:
• Collection development: Research & contribute to the creation of seasonal collections collaboratively with our Chief Product Officer, Creative Director & Head of Design - including researching customer profile/ new trends/high street competitors with a focus on commerciality for brand awareness and regional awareness of brand-consumer
• Technical Specifications: You'll take ideas from the initial design concept and demonstrate understanding of clear concise technical CAD design specifications, creating within specified time frame and integrating into PLM system.
• Prototyping and Sampling: Working closely with our Product developers to participate in fit sessions and proto reviews analysing quality, fit, function, aesthetic and supporting product developers to ensure products are cost appropriate according to brand strategy.
• Creative Presentations: Prepare and present design concepts internally, effectively communicating the vision behind each collection and explain design decision.
• Revisions and Feedback: Accept and implement constructive feedback, ensuring that the final products meet high-quality standards.
• Time Management: Self-motivated and have good time management with the ability to adapt
To be successful in this role, you must possess the following:
• Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, or a related field.
• Minimum 1-2 years’ experience as an Apparel Designer (internship included)
• Proficiency in design software, such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and CAD programs.
• Strong understanding of garment construction, textiles, and manufacturing processes.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work across multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
